It is understood that the implementation period of a number of national policies to support the development of the poultry industry, including preferential tax policies, has been extended to December 31, 2006. After the outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza in some parts of China last year, the General Office of the State Council issued "Several Opinions on Supporting the Development of the Poultry Industry" and issued a series of policies to support the development of the poultry industry, which stipulates that from November 1, 2005 to June 30, 2006, the poultry industry will be exempted from income tax, value-added tax will be levied and refunded, and some local taxes will be appropriately reduced or exempted, it has played a positive role in maintaining the stable development of the poultry industry. At present, although the highly pathogenic avian influenza epidemic has been effectively controlled, the impact of the epidemic has not been completely eliminated. The poultry product market continues to be sluggish, and poultry breeding, processing enterprises and farmers have difficulties in production and operation. In order to promote the further recovery and development of the poultry industry, with the consent of the State Council, the implementation period of the relevant policies in the "Several Opinions" shall be appropriately extended. The relevant notice stipulates that the policy of "for poultry processing enterprises and refrigerated and frozen enterprises that are general taxpayers of value-added tax to process and sell poultry products, the value-added tax will be levied and refunded immediately, and the urban maintenance and construction tax and education surcharge will be exempted" will be extended to December 31, 2006. The income from poultry breeding (including breeding poultry), processing and refrigerated frozen poultry meat by poultry breeding (including breeding poultry), processing and refrigerated poultry shall be exempted from enterprise income tax in 2006.
