Experts point out that limiting the number of eggs eaten per week is not effective in lowering cholesterol, and it doesn't hurt for people to eat more eggs.

According to the BBC report, researchers from the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom analyzed several studies on egg nutrition. They pointed out that many people still believe that eating more than three eggs a week is harmful to health. In fact, this is a wrong view based on outdated theories.

Professor Griffin of the University of Surrey pointed out that eggs are actually an important part of a healthy diet because they are rich in nutrients. He said: "The deep-rooted misconception that eggs are linked to high blood cholesterol and heart disease must be corrected."

Griffin said: "From the perspective of the impact on blood cholesterol, the amount of saturated fat we consume from a poor diet is several times higher than the relatively small amount of cholesterol in food."

Elevated blood cholesterol increases the risk of heart disease, but only 1/3 of your cholesterol comes from your diet. Other factors, such as smoking, overweight and physical activity, may also affect lipid and cholesterol levels.

Griffin believes that people should not limit the number of eggs per week, but should include eggs in their diet, because eggs are "one of the most nutritious foods".

The British Heart Foundation has stopped advising people to limit their consumption to three eggs a week since 2007. However, a local study shows that as many as 45% of consumers still believe that eggs should not be eaten too much.

Taylor, senior nutritionist at the Heart Foundation, said: "Eggs contain cholesterol, but this does not usually raise blood cholesterol levels. If you want to reduce cholesterol levels, it is more important to reduce the saturated fat content of your diet, such as fatty meat, whole dairy products and cakes, biscuits, snacks, etc."
